There are probably as many if not more different designs of riding glove as there are different types of bike. For the occasional rider there are light weight slightly padded ones protecting the hands from unnecessary vibrations. For those riding for a period of time some gloves have strategically placed gel inserts protecting the pressure points of the hand to lessen fatigue and possible nerve end damage.
For the more adventurous dirt trail riders and racers, gloves have been designed more for grip and protection and usually have more padding. There are gloves with full fingers that will keep your hands warm as well as protected, while the fingerless design is probably best and more comfortable for warmer weather. Cycling can be an enjoyable hobby or sport and as technology progresses we are able to protect our bodies from fatigue and unnecessary aches and pains. Gloves do actually have very important protective and comfort purposes; so don’t go riding without them!
